We know we’re not the only folks who stand in that long line at Starbucks at Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom every morning waiting for our caffeine fix. It seems like a lot of Disney World visitors gotta’ have that Starbucks first thing in the morning.
New Starbucks drinks!
Now, we also know we’re not the only folks who get excited when a new drink menu drops at Starbucks, and now that it’s a New Year, we’re standing in line to try two new Starbucks drinks, and let’s just say one was a hit, and the other was a miss. But which was which? Let’s chat!
Okay, let’s start with the Iced Dubai Chocolate Matcha for $6.75. Yes, Starbucks has jumped on the Dubai Chocolate trend with this matcha drink made with pistachio sauce, milk, and chocolate cream cold foam. But we have to give Starbucks some credit: this drink does the trend justice. It’s a very creamy drink with a more subtle matcha flavor.
Iced Dubai Chocolate Matcha
This drink has a nice creamy sweetness, and even as it melts, it gets even better. Although our reporter isn’t a big matcha fan, she admitted she might end up ordering this one again. Pro tip: the chocolate is only on top and a lot of it ends up on the lid, so you’ll want to kinda’ scrape some of that off the lid and into the drink.
Chocolate on top
However, the second drink failed to impress us. The Caramel Protein Latte is a protein-boosted latte with espresso and caramel syrup for $7.45. Honestly, it’s just like they dumped some protein powder in there and called it a day because it’s got that chalky protein powder texture going on.
Caramel Protein Latte
The coffee flavor is the strongest thing you get here, though, and we honestly thought it could use more caramel. So if you’re more of a flavored coffee fan than a coffee fan, this could be a disappointment. When this one melts, it just gets watered down and tastes like a regular latte at times. So, yep, we weren’t super impressed, but hey, it is a good way to get some extra protein in your diet, we guess?
We’ll keep trying more new foods in Disney World, so be sure to keep following along for more reviews.
