If there’s one thing you shouldn’t underestimate about Florida, it’s the weather. Disney World is probably hotter than you expect, even if you’re from other hot places, because the humidity makes it feel so much hotter than it is. Once you factor in the rain, you realize how big a deal weather really can be.

We love all the different colors so everyone in the family can have a different one, but what we really love is how breathable it is. Remember when we talked about the heat? Yeah, being sticky in a rain poncho isn’t a good feeling, and this helps keep air flowing so you’re not as sweaty.

It also folds up easily! We tuck it into our backpack in the morning because we’re heading out to the parks, and then once it starts raining, we can easily take it out and put it on. Once that hour-long storm is over, we fold it back up again so it doesn’t get our backs all wet. It’s likely you’ll be pulling it on and off throughout the day, so you want to make sure it’s easy to access.

You might be tempted to say, “Well, I know Disney World sells ponchos, so I can buy one when I’m in the parks, so I don’t have to carry it around all day if it doesn’t rain.” We hate to break it to you, but it’s probably going to rain at least at some point during your trip. The ponchos in the parks aren’t reusable, they’re expensive, and you don’t want to run to the nearest store to get them (along with all the other people who didn’t bring their own). Yes, it’s something extra to carry around, but it really does make life so much easier.
