Finding new food and drinks in Disney World is our THING…and we’re very passionate about trying those new food and drinks as soon as they drop. That goes DOUBLE for any new Starbucks drinks that land in the park because, well, we’re one of those people who will stand in line for HOURS to get our morning cup of energy.

Let’s try some new drinks!

Well, Starbucks just brought two NEW drinks to Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom, and we’re trying them both. Warning, though: these new drinks might be for more adventurous folks.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Okay, so consider our warning. The two new drinks we’re trying are matcha drinks. Now, matcha is a grassy green tea that is very often an acquired taste. Folks either love it or hate it. But we’re asking you to have an open mind here because the first drink we tried, the Iced Double Berry Matcha for $6.75, could win over a matcha hater. The mixture of the berry flavors in the drink and the foam with the matcha really works and takes away from that grassier tea flavor. It’s soft and creamy, and it’s also refreshing.

Now, you will still get a hint of that matcha flavor, but it’s well-balanced thanks to the berry flavors. We recommend mixing this up really well to get all the flavors blended for each sip. This is also a nice, lighter alternative to coffee, which can occasionally feel heavy.

SO good

We wish we could say the same about the Iced Banana Bread Matcha for $6.75. The banana flavor in this is mostly in the cold foam, and that makes a HUGE difference. Now, that foam is delicious and feels so satisfying to swallow. It’s like a foamy banana smoothie. But it’s just on top. So you’ve got banana foam on top and matcha on the bottom. The matcha has that grassy matcha flavor, so depending on where you’re sipping from, the flavor could change on you.

You could mix it all up, but then you lose that nice foam texture on top. However, if you are a matcha fan, we think you’ll appreciate this drink, too. But we think this should’ve been more like the matcha with banana bread syrup and banana bread cold foam you can get at Scooter’s Coffee. (If you know, you know). Interestingly enough, Dunkin is about to drop a Bananarama Matcha Latte, so, apparently, banana is the flavor of the season!

All the banana bread flavor is at the top

Overall, both drinks are probably acquired tastes, and are suitable for those who love matcha or those who are willing to try matcha for the first time.

We’ll be trying even more food and drinks in Disney World, so stay tuned to Magical Guides for more.
