I’ve been visiting Animal Kingdom since it first opened in 1998 (remember when everyone thought "Beastly Kingdom" was coming?). I can't recall a time the park has transformed this much. Pandora was big, but the new Pueblo Esperanza land with three new rides and the Casita Madrigal is changing the entire vibe of Animal Kingdom. Depending on your nostalgia for DinoLand, it might be a bit bittersweet.

Disney World is currently working on the new Tropical Americas land, bringing big changes. This means some favorites are closing for good. Here’s what’s currently not in action at Animal Kingdom:.

**TriceraTop Spin** had its last flight in January 2025, as Disney clears the way for a new carousel inspired by the vibrant cultures of Central and South America. Imagine bright colors, tropical animals, and toe-tapping music. This carousel will be the jewel of the Tropical Americas section.

Miss the spinning rides? Head to Magic Kingdom for Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, or Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom still offers family-friendly thrills with Na’vi River Journey and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

**It’s Tough to Be a Bug** is officially gone from the Tree of Life after more than 25 years. (Farewell, Flik. Your "stinger" moment was always a bit much!) But starting November 7th, the new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Show will bring Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and friends to the park with an exciting 3D experience packed with teamwork messages and humor.

For more entertainment, check out Festival of the Lion King. It's got fantastic energy, air-conditioned comfort, and remains one of the best live shows in Disney World.

More closures include **Kali River Rapids** (closed for maintenance until December 2025). In the meantime, Expedition Everest can fuel your adrenaline needs. Also, DINOSAUR remains open, but it's closing on February 2, 2026, to make space for an Indiana Jones–themed ride. The new Indiana Jones attraction promises a fresh story and adventure.

Animal Kingdom is evolving rapidly, and while we say goodbye to some beloved attractions, the upcoming changes seem promising.

What are your thoughts on these changes in Animal Kingdom? Which rides will you miss most? Share your thoughts in the comments!
