If there’s one thing I know, it’s that when Pueblo Esperanza opens in Animal Kingdom, I will be sitting there in my Encanto ears wearing an Indiana Jones t-shirt, waiting to experience the land myself. While I loved DinoLand U.S.A. as if it were part of the family, something newer is on the horizon.
The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones.
DINOSAUR is being rethemed to Indiana Jones, using the same ride mechanism but with new scenes (and even different scenes than the Disneyland version), and Disney just filed new permits for the attraction as they get closer to changing over the ride and opening the Tropical Americas land!
The permits are to “Install set elements” with Adirondak Scenic and Scenario, both of which have worked extensively in theme parks. Adirondack Scenic has even worked with Disney on other projects, so saying we’re excited is an understatement.

Installed set elements can be inside or outside, but they are typically the parts we can see, which is pretty cool. While electrical work and other parts are just as important, of course, we’re a bit partial to things we can see.

Disney’s says, “In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Also coming to Pueblo Esperanza includes an Encanto-themed attraction where, for the first time, you’ll be able to go into Casita and say hello to the Madrigals. During the ride, Antonio has just received his special gift of the ability to communicate with animals, and his room has transformed into a rainforest. Guests will get to explore alongside him and “you never know what member of the family you might bump into.”
