TRON Lightcycle / Run
If hearing “the grid” makes you super excited, you’re probably either a massive fan of the TRON movies or have been on TRON Lightcycle / Run (or both). A ride change just happened at Magic Kingdom that makes us a little sad that this limited-time overlay is officially over.
TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially turned off its TRON: Ares overlay and has turned back to blue. Temporary red lighting was added to promote the movie, but now that you can watch the movie on Disney+, it’s time to welcome back Team Blue.

The original version is back
We loved the red! While the ride is awesome during the day, it’s so much more magical at night. The lights are super easy to see, and you really feel like you’re transformed to the grid. Here’s a final look at the red…

Blue is back!
When the Ares overlay was on, it transformed from blue to red, but now we’re just chilling with the blue. It does match the Tomorrowland atmosphere a bit better.

This isn’t the only ride changing soon at Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be reopening this spring with new rainbow caverns and a refurbished track.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is also going through major changes with new blasters, targets, ride vehicles, and even a new show scene and character. We think it’s going to feel like a brand-new ride!

Cinderella Castle is getting a new paint job! It was painted pink during Disney World’s 50th anniverary but now it’s finally time to welcome back the blue and silver. Hm, do I sense a theme of blue coming back to Disney World?
