If you’ve got a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios coming up, you’re going to see a lot of construction happening!
Hollywood Studios
Construction has been taking place at Hollywood Studios all year long, and it’s not slowing down any time soon. From projects and upgrades around the park to the massive expansion of Monsters, Inc. Land, a day at Hollywood Studios looks a lot different today than it did a year ago. We recently visited the park, and we have lots to show you!
Construction on Monstropolis is making more and more progress every single day. It’s crazy to see what it looks like right now. There is a ton of scaffolding on a lot of the existing structures, meaning that the exteriors of these buildings are undergoing some huge changes.
Construction at Monstropolis
To see it in person is actually crazy — just think that this building used to be Muppet*Vision 3D!
Work is continuing
We’re curious what’s going to happen when the exterior parts of the buildings start to look like Monstropolis. Will Disney cover them? Will they add more of a wall to block the view? We can’t imagine that we’ll be getting an “early” look at the land while it’s still being built.
A Monsters, Inc.-themed land is being built
There are some parts of the construction site that we aren’t sure what they’ll lead to, so it just looks like a ton of things that’ll eventually come together.
Look at all the construction!
What we’re really excited to see is the actual Monsters, Inc. building from the movie, which will be located in the back of the land. We’re not sure how good a view we’ll be able to get once the building starts to get built, but we’re assuming it’s going to be big. And that building will have Disney World’s first-ever suspended roller coaster in it!
We’re so excited!
Another part of the park is under construction right now, and that’s the Tower of Terror. When you walk by the ride, you’ll see that there’s work being done on the right side of the popular attraction.

Don’t worry, Tower of Terror is still open for guests to ride. The work being done is just maintenance on the exterior. And the gift shop is also still open.

Scaffolding and scrims just cover parts of the exterior, including the facade above the gift shop. Construction boxes also wrap columns in the queue line. So, even though you can ride, the attraction isn’t looking picture perfect right now.
