We’re just days away from May 26th, one of the biggest days Disney World will have seen in a LONG time! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open to the public, and one of Disney’s other big construction projects, The Walt Disney Studios (formerly Animation Courtyard), will also begin its phased reopening on the same date (though it’s actually opened EARLY!).
Construction is moving FAST
However, there’s another major construction project happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios that won’t be open for quite some time, but that doesn’t mean we’re not keeping a close eye on all the latest updates. If you’re just as excited for the new Monsters, Inc. Land as we are, then this is one update you cannot miss!
We recently stopped by Hollywood Studios to check out the construction, which you can see all the way from the parking lot!
Views from the parking lot
Right now, the cranes are most visible, but it’s entirely possible that when construction is complete, we’ll also get to see parts of the ride building for the biggest new attraction in the area, which will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster ride. It’s bound to be a pretty massive ride building, based on the concept art we’ve seen, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on it all from every angle we can.
We’re hoping we’ll see parts of the ride building too!
From inside the park, scaffolding and scrim are all over the former Muppet*Vision 3D show building, as well as the clock tower. When the wind blew, we could see bits and pieces of what was going on underneath it all, but for the most part, the scaffolding successfully covers the details.
Lots of scaffolding and scrim!
While we were there, we actively saw people working on the project, which is great to see. It’s one thing to know that Disney is working on a project, but to see workers actively ON the site? That’s extra exciting!
They’re hard at work!
It looked like the workers were putting up MORE scrim, which leads us to believe that something about the appearance of this building could be about to change pretty drastically, but Disney wants to keep it under wraps for now. Don’t worry, we’ll be checking back frequently to make sure we’re all up-to-date!
Is MORE scrim going up?
