Today, April 10th, is a VERY special day, especially if you happen to have a brother or sister.

That’s because it’s National Siblings Day, a day set aside to honor the special bonds that siblings share. The holiday was founded in 1995 by Claudia Evart, who was inspired to honor her siblings after losing her brother. Now, 34 years later, Disney is honoring siblings by spotlighting three sisters who all work at Disney World as Cast Members.
Meet sisters Kate, Brittany, and Rachel Hackett, who started their Disney journey visiting Disney World as children with their grandmother, who spent 27 years working there as a seasonal Merchandise Cast Member. Now, the three women have grown up and have followed in their grandmother’s footsteps as Disney World Cast Members. “We were very fortunate to spend so much time at Disney World as children,” Kate said. “Our grandmother really shaped those memories for us.”

Those early visits were the beginning of what led the sisters to work for Disney World today. Trips even included holiday vacations where they saw the Candlelight Processional: their grandmother even performed in the cast choir. They also followed in her footsteps there and performed in the Candlelight Processional Cast Choir.

Brittany was the first to follow the Disney calling by moving to Florida from New Jersey for school. She picked up a part-time role at Disney World. Then her other two sisters followed. The three might have very different jobs, but they’re proud to be Cast Members. Kate works in Food and Beverage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which inspired her to complete culinary school.

Brittany works in Entertainment as a scheduling specialist so that everyone, from performers, attendants, technicians, costuming cast, and more, has smooth experiences.

Rachel works with Disney Character Events, which helps bring Disney’s characters to events across Disney World and more. Recently, all three sisters had the opportunity to work at the same event in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That was the first time in more than six years that they got to be part of the same project.

Their enthusiasm for Disney has grown throughout their family. They also have two uncles and an aunt who work at Disney World as Cast Members.
“We are grateful to be a place where careers often begin with family and grow into long-term journeys rooted in opportunity and purpose,” said Michelle Stewart, manager of cast activities engagement and strategy.
