So, we feel like we are now experts on snacks that come in cones, thanks to the Cozy Cone Motel over in Disney California Adventure, and those EPIC cones we’ve had in Epic Universe. Generally speaking, a snack with the word “cone” in it means it’s in a bread cone, which makes it all that much better.

It’s not exactly what we thought

So you would think when we visited Universal Orlando recently to have yet another cone snack, it would be the same, right? But, nope, something was VERY different about the cone snack we just had there, and we’re wondering how there was such a disconnect between Epic Universe and Universal Islands of Adventure. Okay, let’s talk about it.

To start with, THIS is what we think of when we think of a cone snack:

Mac and Cheese Cones!

We recently visited Universal Islands of Adventure’s Seuss Landing to check out Morriss’s Mac-nificent Mac & Cheese Cone at Circus McGurkus Stoopendous Cafe for $19.99. First, the description is that it’s a freshly baked bread cone, hand breaded Buffalo chicken nuggets, creamy Cheddar cavatappi pasta, and ranch sauce. And, well, this is what we got, which is NOT what we expected. It’s not even cone-shaped. We’re so confused, y’all.

Morriss’s Mac-nificent Mac & Cheese Cone

The nuggets are standard chicken nuggets, but they’re dressed up nicely in a medium-heat buffalo sauce with ranch. And that alone makes them delicious. So score one for the not-cone. The mac and cheese was also good, but it really needed more of a cheesy flavor to really stand out with that buffalo sauce flavor. The “cone” was actually not too bad. It tasted like it had been drizzled with garlic butter, but it’s not toasted. It’s just regular fluffy bread. Which was just okay.

The chicken nuggets are great

Honestly, we’d just leave the bread alone and eat the mac and cheese with the nuggets. So, although the snack is a bread cone fail, it’s still not a complete fail because it’s pretty tasty otherwise.

We’ll be back with more reviews from Universal Orlando, so stay tuned to Magical Guides for more.
