There are lots of changes going on around Disney World these days! From big changes like the upcoming Monstropolis land to smaller things like merchandise stand closures (which are still big to us), there can be a lot of “new” around the parks these days.
EPCOT
Over in EPCOT, there’s a small change that we think is going to impact us in BIG ways. If you’re ready for a small upgrade to your day, we have the information here.
If you’ve ever been to EPCOT, you might be very familiar with their trash cans there. During big festivals or even just busy times of the year, trash cans often become temporary tables. We’ve been eating on these beauties for years now, and they often are high-traffic areas as people come to toss their trash while you dine.
Trash can table!
These trash cans typically have swinging doors that collect all sorts of gross things when people toss their trash, old food, and dirty plates. They also tend to not smell the best (which we get), but it’s not the nicest dining experience. Dining on trash cans has become a true staple of an EPCOT experience. Now, those classic tables (trash cans) are changing!
Do you notice the change yet?
During our last walk, we spotted a handful of these new solar trash cans popping up around EPCOT. Instead of using your hands to push in a swinging door, you can step on the push-down bar, and it will open the trash can so you can easily throw your things away without any of the food, sauce, and other things getting on the door and creating a bigger mess throughout the day.
The new trash cans!
These cans also have solar panels on top of them to collect lots of energy throughout the day! They have updated both the trash cans and the recycling bins around the park. They do have a slightly curved top, so does this mean we won’t be able to dine on top of them as easily? We will definitely find out! These new trash cans look very similar to the old design and still feature the symbol of where they’re located. For example, you can see the World Showcase in the photo below.
A closer look!
These new trash cans are similar to ones we’ve seen in other parks like Disneyland Paris, so we won’t be surprised when these start to expand all over the Disney World theme parks. It really is the little things in life that make things so much better! We love that it’s really easy for us to throw our trash away, avoid any big messes, and even help the environment while we’re at it.
The Disneyland Paris trash cans!
We’re eager to see these trash cans pop up throughout Disney World throughout the year. We’ll be sure to keep our eye on the updates! As always, be sure to keep following Magical Guides for more Disney news, updates, and more.
