If you’re visiting Disney World soon, it’s likely that you’ll take advantage of at least one of Disney World’s table service restaurants (or more because there are SO many great ones!). You are also probably aware that a tip is customary when dining at table service restaurants.

However, for some, a new Florida law will change how that works in restaurants. We’re going to get you up to speed on this law and explain how it will affect your dining at Disney World table service restaurants.
In 2025, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a new bill into law that requires “Every public food service establishment which charges an operations charge includes an automatic gratuity or service charge in the price of the meal shall include notice on the food menu, written contract, and website or mobile application where food and beverage orders are placed, as applicable, that includes the amount or percentage of the operations charge and the purpose of the operations charge.”

Basically, that means that every restaurant that adds an automatic gratuity or tip to a bill needs to let the customer know before they dine that this will be the case. The law even goes so far as to say that the font size of the notice should be equal to or greater than the font size used for menu item descriptions. If the restaurant doesn’t provide menus or any kind of written contract, the notice must appear on a menu board or a clearly legible sign by the register where the customer pays.

Granted, in Disney World, a gratuity or tip is not generally automatically added to a bill unless you have a group of six or more people, but a restaurant will need to make sure there’s a notice establishing that fact. However, both Cinderella’s Royal Table and Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue pre-include a gratuity on the bill regardless of party size.
Cinderella’s Royal Table
This new law officially goes into effect on July 1st, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for those notices when you visit a restaurant in Disney World or anywhere else in Florida.
