A Disney World snack stand just LEVELED UP.
Ice cream sandwich time!
Terra Treats in Animal Kingdom just updated its menu, and you guys are going to be SO excited about what we found there! This spot is now home to hand-scooped ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, filling the void left behind when Dino-Bite Snacks closed a few months ago. Come with us to check out the new items!
Terra Treats is located on Discovery Island near the entrance to Africa, across from Creature Comforts. This snack stand has been through a few different menu changes in recent years — it was formerly home to flatbread pizzas, and then it housed some Colombian-style hot dogs. Earlier this week, we noticed that it was mysteriously closed…but now it has reopened as an ice cream spot!
Terra Treats
The Disney World website has its hours listed as 10:30AM to 4PM, though that’s subject to change depending on the day of your visit. Today, we tried not one, but TWO new treats here.
Annual Passholder Sundae
In addition to a limited-time Annual Passholder Carrot Cake Sundae (read our review here!), the menu is filled with a few different hand-scooped ice cream flavors that you can order in cups or waffle cones, handmade floats, and a NEW ice cream sandwich.
When Dino-Bite Snacks closed, we thought we were saying goodbye completely to ice cream cookie sandwiches in this park, but now there’s a NEW option! The Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich was a delightful surprise on the menu when Terra Treats reopened. It’s a brownie layered with vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate chips and edible cookie dough for $8.29.
Menu
Now, this is not like the old Dino-Bite sandwiches in its composition. Those were typically a scoop of ice cream sandwiched between two cookies of some kind.
The Cast Members we spoke to at the stand said the ice cream on top was hand-scooped (as opposed to soft serve); however, these were pre-made and handed out as they were ordered. You don’t actually witness them scooping the ice cream and assembling the sandwich.
In the packaging
The most prominent layer is that cookie dough on top, which is sugary and soft, with a bit of crunch from the chocolate chips. The cookie dough flavor really comes through and balances nicely with the vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is smooth and creamy and holds up fairly well inside the sandwich.
The ice cream sandwich
The brownie layer on the bottom is the least prominent, and it doesn’t bring as much fudgy chocolate flavor as we would’ve liked, but it makes a solid base. Ultimately, this is a great sweet treat and we enjoyed it thoroughly! Because of its soft texture, it’s a little easier to eat than the old cookie sandwiches, in our opinion.
Inside the sandwich
We can’t wait to see if they drop more ice cream sandwich flavors or sundae options here in the future! Of course, we’ll be back to try more if they do.
