National Geographic Cruises combine its renowned commitment to preserving world wonders with Lindblad Expeditions' 50+ years of guiding travelers to remote locations.
National Geographic Cruise dining
I recently experienced a National Geographic Cruise and explored its offerings, especially the food. So, what's dining like on this cruise?
Here's a quick overview of the dining setup:
- Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style outdoors, weather permitting, each lasting an hour.
- Dinner is served indoors, with the first night as a buffet and subsequent evenings offering sit-down meals where you sit with other passengers, including Nat Geo experts.
- Each morning, menu options for dinner are posted, and guests choose in advance to reduce food waste—a practice we loved.
You can choose your dining option
- Afternoon tea includes finger sandwiches and charcuterie plates, often featuring local meats.
- Snacks like fruit, cookies, and dried fruit are available in the Observation Lounge.
- Drinks, including sodas, coffee, tea, and alcohol, are always available, with multiple water bottle filling stations around.
- No room service is offered.
Outside these meal times, there's little to no off-schedule dining available.
Now, let's talk about the food: It was amazing, with gourmet offerings catering to various tastes. Each night featured multiple soup, salad, appetizer, and main course options, complete with vegetarian dishes—all matching restaurant quality. This is not a cruise for typical fast foods like chicken strips or pizza.
Dining options
Each night featured unique bread and butter varieties, with wine pairings included. Usually, dessert was a specialty item or a sorbet.
Desserts
From our experience, the cruise takes allergies seriously, with the chef personally advising one guest in our group about safe options.
Steak
Highlights included steak frites, a stellar Caesar salad, and exceptional vegetarian dishes made from local ingredients.
Charcuterie
We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience on National Geographic's cruise. Are you intrigued by these food options for a NatGeo cruise? Share your thoughts in the comments!
