There’s just something about Pixar movies that hits differently, which is probably why many of them have been so successful. This year has been a great year for Pixar movies, too, with the release of Hoppers, as well as Toy Story 5, which even has a new original Taylor Swift song on its soundtrack.

So what’s Pixar’s next move? Well, the company previously mentioned a feature it’s been working on called Gatto, and now, the first teaser trailer for that movie has arrived — and let’s just say that Disney fans are STOKED.
Gatto is about a black cat named Nero who lives in Italy, facing an existential crisis as to whether he’s lived the right kind of life. Nero is indebted to a local feline mob boss, though, which makes his life extra complicated. He’s also forged a friendship with a street artist who adopts him…against his will. The film looks different from other Pixar movies in that it uses a blend of hand-painted 2D animation with modern CGI animation. It also stars Mark Ruffalo (Hulk from the Marvel Cinematic Universe) as Nero and is directed by Luca director Enrico Casarosa.

Now, Pixar has dropped the first teaser trailer for the movie, which shows Nero with some of his Italian mob buddies trying to shake down another cat. But like cats, they get easily distracted.
The reaction to the Gatto poster and trailer have been almost overwhelmingly positive. Over on YouTube, @FlameWorksStudio commented: “A pixar film with a unique artstyle? I’m in heaven.”
@yetiboi472 wrote, “I can already tell that I’m gonna love this movie! And I especially love the new animation style!”
Another YouTube user, @spongebobandothershowsfan2009 commented, “The visuals in this look really amazing, and unique at the same time. I’m absolutely interested in this.”

On Instagram, happilyamanda stated what the REAL draw of the movie is: “Kitty movieeeee! Can’t wait.”
Another Instagram user, @ro.abunza, commented, “
finally cats getting the attention they deserve.”
And @curlsandthrills said, “As a black cats mommy, I’m already excited for this one. Anything related to black cat is my favourite character.”
It also seems like Pixar understands its target market for Gatto:
So it seems like Disney might have a hit on its hands, thanks to the subject matter (gotta’ love cats!) and its unique animation style. We’ll know for sure when Gatto arrives in theaters on March 5th, 2027.
