Heading to Disney World this week? Be aware of these closures to avoid any surprises during your visit. Disney World is in a transition phase with some attractions permanently closing and others being refurbished to pave the way for new additions like Pueblo Esperanza, Piston Peak National Park, and a Monsters, Inc. land.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Keeping track of all these changes can be tough, but we’re here to help ensure your Disney World experience is as smooth as possible. Here's the latest on what's closed at Disney World from November 22nd to 29th.
Magic Kingdom’s Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is undergoing refurbishment until 2026. Exciting updates like new ride scenes and vehicles are in progress, but sadly, the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have permanently closed to make room for the Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park. Meanwhile, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for a lengthy refurbishment, promising some "new magic" when it reopens.
At Animal Kingdom, Harambe Market is temporarily closed and expected to reopen early next year. The beloved Kali River Rapids is also closed for routine maintenance but will make a return in December. Meanwhile, DinoLand U.S.A. is undergoing significant transformation, with several attractions permanently closed to make way for the Tropical Americas area, Pueblo Esperanza.
In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is temporarily closed, along with Animation Courtyard and Muppets Courtyard, which are closed for renovations to create new attraction spaces like Monsters, Inc. land.
Blizzard Beach is also closed for refurbishment, but you can still enjoy cooling off at Typhoon Lagoon.
In terms of accommodations, be aware of some hotel pool closures such as the Paddock Pool and the leisure pool at Disney’s Old Key West. Note, Jellyrolls at Disney's BoardWalk has closed and is relocating.
Planning a Disney trip can be a challenge, but with preparation, you can navigate these changes smoothly. Have you had to adjust your plans due to any Disney closures or openings? Share your thoughts with us!
