The holiday magic is in full swing at Disney World – snow-like "snoap" is gently falling, Christmas trees are glittering, and festive lights are twinkling. Yet, nothing puts a damper on the holiday cheer like discovering your favorite attraction is temporarily closed. Currently, several Disney World attractions are under refurbishment, and we want you to be prepared so you won't be caught off guard.
Starting in Magic Kingdom, the popular Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland has been closed since August 2025 for upgrades and won't open until spring 2026. Enhancements will include new ride vehicles and gameplay elements. Then, the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have permanently closed to transition into the new Cars-themed area, Piston Peak National Park. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be shut down until spring 2026 for maintenance and will introduce new scenic features upon its reopening.
In Animal Kingdom, you'll notice closures like Harambe Market, which is set to reopen in early 2026, and the seasonal refurbishment of Kali River Rapids. DinoLand U.S.A. is closing attractions as it transitions into the new Pueblo Esperanza land themed to Tropical Americas.
In Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short is temporarily closed, and the Animation Courtyard is under construction to transform into the Walt Disney Studios area, with exciting new attractions planned. Muppets Courtyard has been closed to make room for a Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
Blizzard Beach is currently shut for refurbishment, although Typhoon Lagoon remains open, weather permitting. Be mindful of the seasonal changes at resort pools as well, and know that the Promenade Fine Art Gallery is moving to a new location.
