There are NEW attractions coming to Magic Kingdom!

If you recall, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat closed in 2025 to make way for a new Cars-themed area in Frontierland. This addition is called Piston Peak, and it will include two new attractions. We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction to see the progress, and today we have a fun update!
Walls completely surround the former Rivers of America these days, and they cover a great deal of the construction, but from certain angles in Frontierland, you can see past the walls to get a glimpse of what changes are being made. For instance, it looks like there’s a NEW addition to one of the old boat docks!
A new building?
The structure pictured here in front of Memento Mori was a secondary boat dock previously used for the Rivers of America that hadn’t been in operation for a long time. It was briefly used as extended queue area for Haunted Mansion, but now it’s behind walls and being transformed for Piston Peak. A shed-like structure has been added to the outside, which looks like it will enclose part of the space.
Something is being added!
Other than that, much of the construction work being done still revolves around moving dirt and leveling the area. We can’t wait to see more of the structures getting put into place!

And the former Liberty Belle Riverboat boarding area? It’s still standing and ropes close it off. Walls cover the entry to the dock itself. We’ll be interested to see what Disney does with this space as construction continues — there’s a lot of potential if they keep it to fit with the Liberty Square theming.
