I’ve been going to Disney World for decades, and I LOVE Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but there are a few reasons to avoid it in 2026.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

This resort seems to have been plagued by years of construction. When the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows opened in December 2024, we thought that might have been the last we saw of construction. However, that has not been the case. In 2025, construction continued here, and as of 2026, guests can still be affected by work.

On Disney’s website, they shared that “some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished through 2026″. Guests may see and hear some daytime construction, starting at 9 AM. Construction at hotels can cause some headaches with loud noises, eye sores, and even things not accessible.

But that’s not all. They also listed “Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.” And in January 2026, we found out what specifically that would include.

Disney World website stating that as of January 15th, portions of the exterior of the Polynesian Village Resort will be undergoing maintenance. This means that your view from ‘Ohana may be impacted. Specifically, they noted that views of Seven Seas Lagoon (and subsequently, Cinderella Castle) may be partially or fully obstructed during construction. This restaurant is often chosen by diners for its view of Magic Kingdom fireworks shows, so that blocked view could be a bummer if it’s the reason you made your reservation.

While we love the theming and the food at this resort, you might want to delay staying here until all of the construction work is complete. This resort is beautiful, and seeing it at its full potential seems like a good reason to hold off spending your vacation here. If you are looking for a restaurant with great views, other restaurants in the area that have a good view of fireworks include Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian and California Grill at the Contemporary.
