Saving money at Disney World is something that every guest wants to do. There are so many hacks about saving money during your trip that go around, but let’s be honest — some are just not worth it!

And we found a “hack” that could actually cause you to waste money instead of saving it. Have any guesses? I’ll give you a minute to think…okay, time’s up! Let’s see if you guessed what Disney money-saving “hack” is actually wack!

If you guessed the resort refillable mugs, you’d be correct! To save money, guests staying at Disney World resorts will often purchase the resort refillable mugs to save money instead of constantly purchasing fountain beverages when they’re thirsty. Each refillable mug is 16 ounces and costs $22.99, and is valid for the length of your resort stay up to 14 days. But it may not be worth it for your travel party, and here’s why.

If you’re spending a lot of your days at the parks, then the refillable mugs may not be for you. These mugs only give you access to the self-serve beverage stations at the resorts, not the parks. It’s great to fill in the morning to bring with you to the park, but keep in mind that you will not be able to refill it while you’re at the parks.

Because Disney sees over tens of thousands of guests each day, there are MANY resort hotels, and some are pretty big, so the walk from your room to the beverage stations may be a good 10-minute walk. So, if you’re staying at resorts like Caribbean Beach, Saratoga Springs, or Old Key West, this is one thing to keep in mind!

Let’s do the math: the current cost of a fountain beverage at Disney resorts is around $4.79 per cup. Which means to break even, you’ll need to refill your mug at least five times. Don’t think you’ll refill your mug that much? Then maybe the refillable mug isn’t for you!

They offer same-day delivery, or you can order up to three days ahead of time with a reserved window to make sure your groceries will be there when you are! There is a $9.95 delivery fee for orders less than $50, a $6.95 fee for orders up to $100, and free delivery for orders over $100.
