We’ve noticed a trend popping up a LOT at Disney’s BoardWalk recently!

There are plenty of great places to eat at the BoardWalk, from ultra-opulent table service spots like The Cake Bake Shop and Flying Fish to grab-and-go eats at places like BoardWalk Deli and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. But even with so many amazing choices, we’ve noticed tons of guests looking for a cool treat this summer, only to find that they can’t get one at the BoardWalk yet!
Let’s be real, y’all, it’s been SUPER hot in Orlando recently. And yes, summer in Florida is usually hot, but we’re talking heat-advisory-level hot, with temperatures regularly hitting the mid-90s and heat indices above 100 degrees.

Considering the extreme heat, it’s not surprising that lots of guests are flocking to ice cream spots looking for a cold treat. And while BoardWalk Ice Cream might sound like the perfect place to get your fix while you’re in the area, there’s a serious catch — BoardWalk Ice Cream doesn’t open until 3 PM.

On our recent trips to the BoardWalk, we’ve seen probably upwards of 15 families try to visit BoardWalk Ice Cream in the early afternoon, only to find that it isn’t open yet. And that’s just in the fairly brief times that we’ve been passing through!

The hours at BoardWalk Ice Cream aren’t new, but we do think it’s a missed opportunity to not open this spot a few hours earlier during the summer, especially since we’ve seen so many people try to visit in the early afternoon. With that in mind, we don’t want you to be one of the guests caught off guard by the 3 PM opening!
Cookies ‘n Cream Currents Milk Shake
Looking for a frozen treat before BoardWalk Ice Cream opens for the day? You could walk to Beaches & Cream at the nearby Disney’s Beach Club Resort and pick something up from the to-go window there! Obviously, walking even short distances in the heat might not sound great, but the Beaches & Cream to-go window typically opens at 11 AM, so it can fill the early afternoon ice cream gap in a pinch!
