Hollywood Studios, we adore you, but why not more dining choices? Although there aren't tons of eateries, we discovered one that might just become your go-to – the Backlot Express!
Located by Echo Lake, near the evolving Monstropolis section, Backlot Express has a large seating area, both indoors and out. The Hollywood film set vibe gives it a unique atmosphere with props and signs hinting at ongoing projects. Plus, they have an abundance of condiments, which earns extra points from us.
Their menu includes familiar favorites like chicken strips, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Perfect for a quick-service meal, you can order at the counter or use Mobile Ordering. They sometimes have special snacks for holidays, Coca-Cola products, and Joffrey’s Cold Brews. Kids' options like chicken strips and mac & cheese are also available.
We tried a variety of dishes that included the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, Cuban Sandwich, and the 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl had a well-balanced blend of chicken, rice, and toppings. The Cuban Sandwich surprised us with its deliciousness, though the pork was a bit dry. The Angus Cheeseburger was simple but comforting, best for those with basic tastes.
Lastly, we savored the iconic Wookie Cookie, perfect for oatmeal cream pie lovers. It's a sweet ending to your meal and looks great in photos!
Why stop by Backlot Express? It's quick, easy and offers well-loved dishes. The ample seating and mobile ordering make it convenient, but skip it if you're after more unique dining experiences or happen to be in other areas of the park.
Overall, Backlot Express might be a hidden gem in Hollywood Studios. With filling, well-priced options and a fun theme, it’s worth checking out if you’re nearby. Although I wouldn't deliberately venture out of my way just to eat here, it's a solid choice for a convenient meal. What do you think? Have you tried Backlot Express or do you have a favorite spot in Hollywood Studios? Share your thoughts!
