We’re BACK at one of our favorite spots on Disney’s BoardWalk, because yes, there’s ANOTHER new menu item, and you know we had to head there to try it out immediately.
Who’s ready for cake?
The Cake Bake Shop may be pricey, but wow, are those cake slices and other treats from the bakery absolutely divine. That’s not even touching on the actual restaurant side, which also ranks very high for us, but we love how accessible the bakery is. If you want a sweet treat that will take you right back to your childhood, look no further than this new cake slice.
The newest addition to the Cake Bake Shop bakery menu is the Cotton Candy Cake. One slice of this costs $22, but it’s massive, just like all the others, and it’s strawberry and vanilla cake layers filled with cotton candy buttercream, frosted in blue, pink, and white cotton candy buttercream, and topped with swirls.

When we saw the description at first, we were nervous it would just taste like a mouthful of sugar, but we’re SO relieved that that’s so far from the truth. The layers of vanilla and strawberry cake are subtly flavored and so light and airy that they remind us of cotton candy melting on our tongue. The buttercream is whipped to perfection, like always, really adding to that light cotton candy experience.
Look at those fun colors!
We loved that there’s just a hint of the cotton candy flavor in the buttercream, as it’s very pleasant with the alternating layers of vanilla and strawberry cake. The subtle strawberry flavor of the two layers reminds us of the mind tricks pink cotton candy plays on you, where you go, “Is this actually strawberry-flavored, or do I just think so because it’s pink?” It was far from overpowering and was such a fun, beautiful take on a childhood classic.
