We’re on Disney’s newest cruise ship, trying all of the food! The Disney Adventure has over 20 restaurants, with most of them being brand-new, which means we have to eat — a lot!

Gramma Tala’s Kitchen

Gramma Tala’s Kitchen is a new restaurant exclusively on the Disney Adventure. This Pacific and Asian restaurant is themed after Gramma Tala from Moana. Now let’s dive in!

Get a sneak peek of the Disney Adventure cruise ship.

Like we mentioned, this restaurant is themed after Gramma Tala from Moana. So, you’ll find all sorts of details and nods to the beloved Disney film.

Pictures!

There were framed pictures up and around the dining spot.

It’s Gramma Tala!

There was also a painting of Moana and her friends setting sail, from Moana 2. All in all, the space was really cute!

Moana!

There is lots of seating inside the restaurant, and the interior is beautiful. From the colors to the designs, to the details, we couldn’t stop looking around Gramma Tala’s Kitchen!

Seating

There is also seating outside, if you want to get views of the Imagination Garden on the cruise. This is a full-on restaurant, so we needed a dining reservation to come here. We had to book it in the Navigator app. Yes, it was still a part of the included accommodations, but we did need to reserve and scan our Key to the World card when we got there. They did turn people away who did NOT have a reservation, so that’s something to keep in mind.

More seating!

When it came time to order, this restaurant is actually a build-your-own-bowl situation. There is a menu up on the wall to see all the options you can get when building your own bowl or platter. We ended up getting the Fragrant Chicken Rice, Black Pepper Beef, Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli, Soy-glazed Yams, and Sichuan-Braised Tofu.

Build your own bowl!

Let’s start with the chicken rice, which was SO good. It was called the Fragrant Chicken Rice, and it really was. It was cooked to perfection — not too much and not too little. The chicken flavor was nice, savory, and apparent — making it more interesting than plain rice.

Build-your-own

The Black Pepper Beef was cooked well! It was moist and tender, with well-cooked onions and peppers. The beef was peppery, so they weren’t joking with the name.

This bowl was delicious!

The garlic broccoli was pretty good, but it felt pretty plain. There wasn’t enough garlic on this; it was more of an earthy broccoli flavor. It wasn’t bad, just needed a little more to it!

The broccoli was a little plain

The Soy-Glazed Yams surprised us the most. They were sweet and almost sesame flavored. The soy was great, and the yams were cooked very well. It was kind of like small potato bites, with a slightly firmer texture.

We can’t get enough!

The tofu was also nice. It was still chewy, and we could’ve used a little more crunch, other than the crunch on the edges. The flavor wasn’t very present for these, unfortunately. We probably would’ve liked it more if it weren’t as chewy!

The tofu was ok

We loved the food at Gramma Tala’s Kitchen, and we highly recommend it for anyone on the Disney Adventure. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney Adventure food!
