Hawaii is on high alert as a state of emergency has been declared due to the looming threat of Hurricane Kiko. As a beloved travel spot for both standalone vacations and cruise destinations, Hawaii faces potentially severe weather conditions in the near future.

Acting Governor Sylvia Luke has issued an emergency proclamation to prepare for possible impacts from Hurricane Kiko. The state could experience tropical storm-force winds, heavy rain, and high surf starting Monday, September 8, 2025. Currently, Hurricane Kiko is a major storm about 1,200 miles east-southeast of Hawaii and is expected to approach as a tropical storm early next week.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to keep track of updates and prepare emergency supplies. The current emergency relief period will last through September 19th, 2025, with the option to extend or end it earlier if necessary.
