It's with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Eddie Sotto, a former Disney Imagineer, at the age of 67. Sotto, who was once the Senior Vice President of Concept Design at Walt Disney Imagineering, contributed to projects like Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland.
His legacy includes over $500 million in projects, spanning E-ticket attractions, shops, and even mobile tech. In Disneyland Paris, Sotto was instrumental in shaping Main Street U.S.A., and his influence extends to Tokyo Disneyland where he helmed the groundbreaking Pooh’s Honey Hunt ride.
At EPCOT, he was pivotal in launching Mission: SPACE, and his impact also touched Disneyland in Anaheim with projects like the Indiana Jones attraction and Adventureland's refurbishment. Sotto once remarked that "Pirates of the Caribbean blew my mind, and I knew I wanted to design stuff like that."
Throughout his career, Sotto also worked with Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal, Six Flags, and VH1, leaving a vast influence on the industry. Share your thoughts and memories of his work in the comments below. What’s your favorite attraction that Sotto helped bring to life?
