While the Walt Disney Company just announced Josh D’Amaro as the new Chief Executive Officer, taking over Bob Iger’s position, we can’t forget about Dana Walden’s new promotion, too.

Dana Walden, current Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, will be named President and Chief Creative Officer for the company starting on March 18th.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Walden has led Disney’s world-renowned, award-winning entertainment media, news, and content businesses globally, including Disney’s streaming platforms. Chief Creative Officer is the historic first for the company, and Walden will report directly to D’Amaro to “ensure that storytelling and creative expression across every audience touchpoint consistently reflect the brand, engage audience at scale, and advance core business objectives, while driving enterprise-wide initiatives and translating vision into action.”

Bob Iger said, “Dana Walden is an excellent leader who commands tremendous respect from the creative community. Given that creativity is at the heart of everything Disney does, she is a wonderful choice to serve in this new leadership role. In the years since Dana joined Disney, she has accumulated great knowledge about the many facets of our businesses and brands, and is very well prepared to be President and Chief Creative Officer.”

Walden has managed Disney+ and Hulu, along with other programming, marketing, and disruption, and operations of other brands like ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Branded Television, Disney Television Studios, FX, Hulu Originals, and National Geographic Content.

In her current role, she oversaw more than 25,000 employees globally and a programming slate of 4,500+ hours and nearly 300 series annually. She joined the company in 2019 after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, originally serving as chairman of Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment.

We’re excited to see what Walden does with this new role and how it will be integrated into the company. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news.
