We’re just a few short weeks away from the Fourth of July in Disney World, which is usually quite the major holiday.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Magic Kingdom

If you’ll be in the parks, we warn you to prepare for intense crowds and long wait times, all in the intense Florida heat, so be sure to bring your cooling towels, fans, and UV umbrellas (plus ponchos, because those summer rain storms WILL get you). However, there’s something else we need to warn you about that could make a comeback, and it could severely limit some of your transportation options around the resort if you’re traveling from Disney Springs.

Back in April, we saw something interesting hit Disney Springs. Due to the higher volume of people in the parks, Disney set up partitions around the Disney Springs bus depot and was checking guests’ hotel or dining reservations before they could get in line for whatever bus they were looking for.

Blockades put up

The reason for this? To limit the amount of casual traffic heading to hotels, which, yes, meant no resort hopping — at least, not from Disney Springs. This was the only area we saw the partitions up, as you were able to hop on any hotel bus you wanted from the four theme parks. This was a pretty controversial move, as many guests felt like being able to see hotels gives them an idea for where they may want to stay for future trips, but fortunately, it was only in place for about a week.

When we spoke to Cast Members, though, it was mentioned that the restrictions could return during other busy times of the year, which could include the Fourth of July. So far, we haven’t seen the blockades return since Easter, but this is also, arguably, the first major holiday since then. We’ll be sure to keep a close eye out and let you know the moment we see them, if they go up.

Disney Bus

If they do go back up, there are ways to get around the restrictions. For one, if there’s a restaurant you’ve been meaning to dine at anyway, it may be a great time to book that reservation to check something off your bucket list and prepare at the same time. You can also head over to EPCOT to take the ferry around to different hotels, or walk to them via the BoardWalk. Additionally, you can head to the TTC to take the Resort Monorail and check out the three Magic Kingdom area hotels, and then at Magic Kingdom itself, you could hop on a bus to wherever you’d like to go.
