Well, it's happened again—another closure at Disney World! Animation Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios has officially closed, along with most of its attractions. The space is being transformed into The Walt Disney Studios, projected to open in 2026 as a tribute to the famed Walt Disney Studios lot in California. Out with the old and in with the new, as this upgrade promises fresh attractions featuring beloved Disney characters and fresh experiences!
While it's sad to see the Animation Courtyard go, there's a lot of excitement around what’s coming. We checked out the area on closure day—cue the classic Disney construction walls—and noticed a few changes in the My Disney Experience app as well.
Star Wars fans, don’t worry! You can still meet Darth Vader, who has now relocated to Star Tours.
Disney isn't just closing things down—they’re giving us something new. Star Wars Launch Bay is set to become The Magic of Disney Animation, featuring an indoor play area, fresh take on Disney Jr. Play and Dance, and Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat making a return as an emblem of magic and novelty.
