Disney World can feel like one giant construction project right now, but we know that with construction, big things are on the horizon.

In 2026, Disney World is undergoing massive construction projects in three out of the four theme parks. We have been keeping a close eye on everything that is happening so we can bring you the most important updates. Here is everything you need to know about the latest updates for each of these projects around Disney World.
Magic Kingdom has one of the largest expansions underway! Currently, both Villains Land and Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land, are under construction, and these new photos from @bioreconstruct on X show exactly how large the project is!

In the photo below, you can see the land cleared for what will be Villains Land, as well as the construction staging for the projects.

Piston Peak is well underway, taking over the area that once was Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. To the right of Big Thunder Mountain, you can see the land being cleared with several construction vehicles. You can also see a better view of the land cleared beyond Big Thunder Mountain and even land behind the show buildings for both Haunted Mansion and “it’s a small world.”

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, @bioreconstruct on X shows the status of Pueblo Esperanza. This is the Tropical Americas area that will hold stories and attractions from Encanto and Indiana Jones. This area is where DinoLand U.S.A was, and now, the only remaining parts of that land are Dinosaur and Restaurantosaurus, which will close in February.

The steel structure below is the new Encanto ride, where guests will be able to go inside the magical casita from the film. The land is set to open sometime in 2027.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are two projects currently happening. The first is that Animation Courtyard is becoming The Magic of Disney Animation. The buildings in this area are being repurposed for new attractions. The building that currently houses Star Wars: Launch Bay will be turned into“The Magic of Disney Animation,” which is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. The Walt Disney Studios and The Magic of Disney Animation will open in the latter part of Summer 2026!

Monstropolis is also underconstruction where the Muppets area once stood. We can see that they have currently cleared out the courtyard area between what was PizzeRizzo and MuppetVision 3D.

One attraction that has many Disney fans excited is the new coaster coming to the Monsters Inc. themed land. Disney is working on concrete right now, but you can also see where concrete forms are on top of the floor. Earlier sections and conduits are being buried in sand, hence the color difference you can see below. The size of this building is massive, and we can’t wait until it goes vertical!

As construction continues all over Disney World in 2026, we will keep an eye out and bring you any updates. For more Disney news and updates, follow us at Magical Guides!
