According to TheWrap, Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom might be better than we’ve ever thought.

There’s been a lot of speculation lately about the project being scrapped or even the budget being unlimited, but many sources are saying that Disney is looking to change some elements of the proposed Villains Land. We’re not exactly sure what’s happening yet, but some of the proposed ideas make us want to run to the parks and start helping with construction because it’s going to be spectacular.

Before we get into the details, TheWrap’s article notes that these details are “according to sources familiar with the project.” There haven’t been any official announcements from Disney, but we’re expecting a big update at the D23 convention in August (and hopefully some news before then).

In original concept art, Villains Land had a large roller coaster, and according to a former Imagineer, it was supposed to be Maleficent-themed and incorporate elements of Sleeping Beauty. It was supposed to be a high-thrill coaster, but now it is being converted into a more family-friendly ride like Slinky Dog Dash, themed to The Emperor’s New Groove. While Maleficent won’t be getting her own coaster, she is expected to still have a major presence in the land.

A Hades-themed dinner show could also be involved, similar to the Diamond Horsehoe Revue. Pain and Panic will be in on the fun with other villains making appearances. It’s expected to be a full-service, sit-down restaurant with a prefix menu. Disney has casually mentioned working ona Hades animatronic, so this could be where it’s going!

The article also mentions that a Maleficent indoor water ride could be coming, similar to Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure at Shanghai Disneyland. They intend to make this a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction, which means it could cost between $11 and $35 per person to skip the line.

Character interactions are also expected in the land, and there could be roaming characters with their own routines hanging around the land. Of course, there will also be shopping and food kiosks.

Multiple sources have also said there will be a third attraction yet to be announced. It won’t be the same level as the Maleficent boat ride, but plans filed with the South Florida Water Management District have shown area for a “carnival-style ‘flat ride.'” It could be a spinner ride like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, but similar to Ursula, similar to early plans for the retheme of Disney California Adventure. It later became Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind, another spinner ride.

One source also says that updated plans for Villains Land are due in a couple of weeks, and then the new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, will present the proposal to the board to decide whether to move forward. We’ve been keeping an eye out for any details, and this specific attraction news could be good for Villains Land in the future. Again, these are quote sources, but no official news has come out of Disney yet.
