It’s finally time to reopen the gates! Frozen Ever After in EPCOT closed on January 26th, 2026, to make way for some major updates to the popular ride.
Frozen Ever After
We’ve been patiently waiting for some updates on the ride, and now we finally know when it’s reopening! Starting on February 12th, 2026, you can hop back on a boat to Arendelle.
That’s right, Frozen Ever After finally has a reopening date. The ride’s audio animatronics are finally being updated after initially opening in 2016. At the time, these animatronics were some of the most impressive ones we had ever seen! They brought the characters of Frozen to life, including Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff.

They were the first animtronics to be entirely powered by electric motors and manufactured using 3D printing techniques. However, the faces were projected using animation, which didn’t age as well over time. The faces stood out compared to the bodies, and in all honesty, just looked a little wonky as they aged. In 2023, Disney introduced this attraction to Hong Kong Disneyland with new animatronics that went viral because of how lifelike they were!

They also included this new technology in Tokyo DisneySea’s recent expansion, which might be our favorite iteration of the ride. After years of begging, Disney is finally updating the original Frozen Ever After ride in EPCOT with this amazing new technology!

Disney World hasn’t officially announced the reopening date yet, but hours are listed for the attraction again, starting on February 12th. Of course, we’ll be there to share photos and videos of the ride changes on reopening day.

The attraction is one of the most popular ones in EPCOT, so we know fans are ready for this reopening. During its closure, the Fjording store at the exit of Frozen Ever After has been listed as closed on the Disney World website, but it was still open when we checked out when the ride first closed. The store will still open, but the exit from the attraction was blocked.
