Haunted Mansion Holiday
Some rides at Disney World and Disneyland get special overlays for the holidays (can you even believe it’s almost that time of year again?!) Here is every ride that has CONFIRMED a ride overlay this holiday season!
Starting over in Disneyland in Anaheim, California, there are FOUR rides receiving a holiday makeover.
This one is one of the most well-known holiday overlays when it comes to Disney rides. The attraction changes from the Grim Grinning Ghosts to a world of the classic film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Guests can expect festive scenes, updated decor, holiday-themed music, and popular characters from the film alongside some familiar Haunted Mansion ghosts.

Disney also shared some details about this year’s overlay that will excite some big Imagineering fans! The Oogie Boogie Audio-Animatronic has been updated with an adjusted pose and silhouette! Also noted is that the holiday version of Madame Leota uses the face of Kim Irvine, an Imagineer and daughter of Leota Toombs — the original Madame Leota!

This transformed attraction for the holidays features a ride through the Seven Seaways canal with each region in the ride celebrating the holidays in their own distinct ways — from Mele Kalikimaka to Feliz Navidad. The ride is decked out in gorgeous Christmas lights and blends classic holiday songs — like “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls” — with the attraction’s theme song “It’s a Small World (After All).”

Over in Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will become Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and will feature a collection of seasonal tunes. Not only will you get that, but you’ll get some versions with Mater’s own original lyrics. The attraction will be filled with garland, lights, and decor!

Another Cars Land holiday transformation will be Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, which will turn into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl. Luigi and his extended family will celebrate the holidays with festive dances to tunes sung by Luigi himself.

They are experts in the business and take all of the stress out of planning — you just get to do the fun part, like deciding which rides you want to ride first and which restaurants you want to dine at!
Moving across the country to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, FOUR rides will be getting a holiday overlay!
Formerly known as Jungle Cruise, this attraction in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom is one of the best holiday overlays in Disney World. Guests will find holiday decorations throughout the ride’s queue and on the ride itself. AND the skippers will have some holiday-themed jokes to share with you throughout your journey. The boats themselves even receive holiday names like Mistletoe Millie and Brrrrr Bertha! So, hop onboard and let us know how many Christmas things you can spot because — let me tell you — there are A LOT!
Jingle Cruise
Over in Hollywood Studios, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration changes course a little bit and has a special guest appearance for the holidays! The show will feature different songs than it usually does (pulled from the short film Olaf’s Frozen Adventure) and a new storyline, and at the end, your favorite snowman will come out to greet everyone!

A similar-styled attraction to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Disneyland, Alien Swirling Saucers in Hollywood Studios also receives a holiday overlay specific to the music! The intergalactic soundtrack is layered with holiday-themed music, and at night, Christmas-colored lights will light up the attraction.

Another crowd favorite during the holiday season is the transformation of Living with the Land into the Glimmering Greenhouses at EPCOT. This one is extra special when you ride it at night because the attraction gets decorated with TONS of Christmas lights throughout the greenhouses, along with special holiday decorations. Yes, you can still see the Christmas decor during the day, but we’d suggest waiting to get the full effect at night!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Exclusives
If you’re attending the Christmas-themed special-ticketed event at Magic Kingdom this winter, you’ll want to keep these overlays in mind because they ONLY happen during the party!
- Mad Tea Party: This attraction will be flashing with red and green lights throughout your ride and plays a rotation of four Christmas songs! It’s your time to spin in the holiday spirit!
- Space Mountain: It won’t be COMPLETELY dark during your ride. What there will be are red and green flashing lights along with intense holiday-themed music
- Tomorrowland Speedway: Christmas-themed props are displayed throughout the ride and holiday music is pumped in through the speakers
- Monster’s, Inc. Laugh Floor: Monster comedy turns into Christmas-monster comedy with this holiday-themed show! If you don’t think you should do it, think again. It’s unlike the regular show, but still makes you laugh enough to fill up the tank to get out — trust me, I was featured during one of the shows!
