We can’t wait to check out the NEW land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year!

Animation Courtyard closed in 2025 to make way for The Walt Disney Studios land, a space dedicated to Disney characters and animation, with new attractions opening this year. We’ve been watching the construction closely, and recently, Disney installed the new Sorcerer Mickey hat on top of the Magic of Disney Animation building, but along with that update, there’s another change we’d like to point out!
One of the most iconic features of Hollywood Studios is the handprints in front of the Chinese Theatre, featuring a variety of celebrities and Hollywood icons. Now, Disney Imagineers are bringing that same magic to the Walt Disney Studios courtyard…but this time with Disney characters!

Disney Parks shared a reel on Instagram highlighting some of the handprints, footprints, and…octopus tail prints (??) that will decorate the pavement in front of the Magic of Disney Animation building. And among the ones already installed, there are some fan favorite friends!

Of course, Disney icon Oswald the Lucky Rabbit has stopped by to drop his hands and feet in the ground…

…as well as the demigod Maui! Those are some MASSIVE handprints, y’all.

Moana is right next to that one, and it looks like Hei Hei caused a bit of mischief while the concrete was still wet. Silly chicken!

With the Sorcerer Mickey hat nearby, we’re glad to see that Yensid got to make his mark as well. Handprints, some (rather pointy) shoes, and the classic moon and stars pattern that dons the hat.

Like father, like son — Mufasa and Simba put their pawprints in the same square. How cute!

And, of course, Stitch couldn’t resist an opportunity to get messy. Though it looks like he did his prints in alien mode — there are six of them!

In the reel, Disney revealed that more characters will be coming as work continues on the courtyard. We can’t wait to see who else joins this classic group! Walt Disney Studios will officially open on May 26th with the courtyard area and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live. The Magic of Disney Animation will open later this summer.
