The holiday season at Disney World is just around the corner, and if you're considering a trip in November, here are some helpful tips from a seasoned November visitor!

Happy Holidays from Magic Kingdom!

November happens to be my absolute favorite time to visit Disney World. My family and I have made the trek four out of the last five years, and it's always packed with stunning decorations, festive cheer, and delightful weather. However, there are a few things I wish I'd known before that first trip.

It's Not Fully Christmas on November 1st

While it's often said that Disney comes alive with Christmas magic overnight after Halloween, this isn't entirely accurate. Magic Kingdom undergoes a quick transformation, but the rest of the resort takes a bit more time. Holiday decorations appear gradually over the first couple of weeks in November. For the ultimate holiday experience, consider visiting in mid-November. Early November delivers a lovely mix of fall and holiday prep without the full festive flair.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios tends to start early with their holiday decor, sometimes even as early as October!

A heads-up about EPCOT: the full Christmas spirit doesn't typically kick in until late November, aligning with the Festival of the Holidays, which starts around November 28th.

Don’t Expect Christmas Parades Unless You’re at the Party

While the holiday spirit is everywhere, special holiday attractions are exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom. You’ll only see the Christmas parade, special fireworks, or exclusive character meet-and-greets during these party nights. Attending the events requires a separate ticket.

However, during Christmas week, you'll get to experience Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade without attending a party night.

Holiday Magic Is Everywhere, Not Just in Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is undoubtedly a Christmas haven, but holiday magic isn't limited to just one park! Each Disney park boasts its own festive allure:

- EPCOT hosts the International Festival of the Holidays, starting November 28th, featuring global food booths, storytellers, and the Candlelight Processional.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers retro charm with tinsel-filled decor, old-time tunes, and “Jollywood Nights.”
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates with the Merry Menagerie puppet performances.
- Disney Springs hosts the Christmas Tree Stroll, seasonal treats, and sometimes even “snowfall.”

Be Ready for Early Park Closures

If you're not attending special events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights, expect early park closures on those event nights—sometimes as early as 6:00 PM. Always check official park hours for your visit to avoid surprises.

Consider using early closure nights to explore decorated resorts, dine at Disney Springs, or catch EPCOT fireworks. Occasionally, planning a day at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios on these nights pays off with thinner crowds and shorter lines!

Don’t Skip the Resorts — They’re Holiday Destinations Too!

The Disney resorts are brimming with Christmas magic, perfect for a day of holiday exploration! From gingerbread displays to themed decorations at different resorts, you don’t need to stay there to enjoy the festive allure.

Watch Out for Crowds Around Veterans Day and Thanksgiving

While not the peak season, crowds do show up, especially during Veterans Day and Thanksgiving weeks. Make park reservations early, have a Lightning Lane strategy, and if possible, take advantage of early entry or Extended Evening Hours to make the most of your experience.

It Gets Chilly… Seriously!

Despite Florida's warm reputation, November can bring surprisingly chilly mornings and evenings. Pack layers and a light jacket to stay comfortable when temperatures dip.

Despite the quirks, occasional crowds, and sometimes shorter hours, visiting Disney World in November is an enchanting experience. It’s festive without December’s hustle, and walking under twinkling lights with hot cocoa in hand makes it truly magical. If you're visiting this November, I hope these tips enhance your trip.
