Disney World water parks can become very popular, very quickly — especially during the hotter times of year, which are quickly approaching!
Typhoon Lagoon
The resort has two different water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Currently, Blizzard Beach is the only water park open, but come May 26th, both water parks will be open through September 8th. If you’re planning on heading to either of them this summer, there’s one item you CANNOT forget to bring. We’ve forgotten it ourselves and 100% regretted it, so please don’t make the same mistake we did.

What we’ve learned from Disney World water parks, and water parks in general, if we’re being honest, is that the ground can rip up your feet quickly, especially on hot days. While you can wear flip-flops or sandals around the water park, not all of them are allowed on the rides, which means that you potentially have to walk to a ride and stand in line in bare feet, and that hurts fast. We suggest snagging some of our favorites online, which are also all approved to be worn on the attractions!

If you don’t want thick shoes but want to keep your feet protected, we highly recommend the Quick-Dry Aqua Socks. They come in a variety of colors, are super flexible, comfortable to wear, and the soles are strong enough that you’ll be protected from the heat and anything sharp on the ground as you walk.

If you want actual shoes, we really recommend the WHITIN Women’s Multi-Purpose Feather Water Shoes as well. You can use the pull cord at the top to tighten them, if needed, but they’re still acceptable for the rides, as there’s no zipper. They also come in numerous colors, so you can find which you love best!

Looking for sandals that pass the test? Look no further than the Nike Kids’ Sunray Protect 4 Sandal. These don’t have any exposed metal, buckles, or zippers, so they don’t break the rules for the slides. These are great if you want something with a little more structure!

That’s right, Speedo does make shoes as well, so the Surfwalker Pro 3.0 may be a great fit if you’re looking for something sleek and stylish. However, it’s important to note that the manufacturer has discontinued this specific style, so it may not be around for long.

Finally, we also think the Speedo Women’s Tidal Cruiser Water Shoes are a good choice, especially because these are indeed still being made by the manufacturer. These only come in three different colors, so they may not be the most stylish, but you can be sure that the thick sole will keep your feet from burning!
We’ll be sure to keep you in the know about all the latest and greatest Disney news to help you plan your trip, so stay tuned to Magical Guides!
