We’re always on the hunt for yummy food near Disney. Sometimes you don’t have a park ticket, or you want to stay near your hotel, and we totally get it!

Cozze E Vongole
Today we visited Simply Capri. It’s an Italian restaurant in the Flamingo Crossings shopping center, only 10 minutes from Animal Kingdom. Lots of Disney Cast Members live in the area and have raved about it to us, so we had to check it out!
The atmosphere is very casual and laid-back for table service. They had a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating, with many tables for small and medium-sized parties. The soundtrack was fun, with a great selection of Italian pop songs hits.

To drink, we got the Fresh Lemonade for $6. This was suuuper sour, and it shied away from the sweetness you’d usually find in a lemonade. It was very unique and fresh, which we enjoyed!

We started with their Cozze E Vongole for $21. This soup was an acidic tomato soup with a small spicy kick. The PEI mussels and top neck clams inside were chewy with a garlic flavor. It came with two pieces of bruschetta, which were perfect for sponging into the soup.

Then we tried their Ossobucco Di Vetello for $51. It’s a braised veal Ossobuco with risotto Milanese. The veal was very flavorful and tender – we didn’t even need a knife. The risotto was creamy and had a hint of saffron for complexity. This was also a great portion size and easily shareable.

For dessert, we got the Delizia Al Limone for $14. This is a limoncello sponge cake covered with lemon cream, and our server told us they import it straight from Italy. The sponge cake was very fluffy with a strong lemon flavor from the limoncello. The lemon cream added a smooth, creamy texture to the outside that added even more lemon.

We had so much fun trying all of the new menu items at Simply Capri. We know it can be tempting to stay on Disney World property your entire trip, but there are great restaurants and entertainment right outside! We love to do this on our check-in or check-out day, or when we’re taking a pool day in the middle of the trip. It’s refreshing and makes us feel like we actually saw Central Florida versus just Disney World. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World food!
