Over at all three of Universal Orlando‘s parks, you’ll find a section dedicated to Harry Potter. Inside those spots, you’ll find butterbeer and butterbeer snacks galore — there are often so many, it’s a little hard to pick what to get!

Butterbeer Shortbread Bar

Now, this gets easier if you’re often visiting the parks, or going on a longer trip, since you can often try more of the treats. Even then, though, we think it’s important that you know which ones are at the high of your list. The last thing you want is to spend money on a treat you don’t end up liking! That’s why, when we heard that there was a new Butterbeer shortbread treat in Universal Studios, we knew we had to go try it out ASAP.

You’ll find the Butterbeer Shortbread Bar for $8 at Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley in Universal Studios. This treat was introduced for Butterbeer Season across Universal Orlando, which takes place from March 1st through May 31st — yes, that means that you’ve only got about two more months to grab this treat, unless Universal decides to keep it around.

Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley

This bar is definitely pretty greasy and buttery, but for good reason! The main flavor here comes from the salted caramel in between the shortbread, but thanks to the salt in there, it’s not overly sweet, even when combined with the shortbread. However, that does mean that the flavor here is more salted caramel and a slight butterscotch flavor rather than Butterbeer itself. It didn’t bother us too much, but if you’re specifically looking for Butterbeer flavor, you may be a little disappointed.

Butterbeer Shortbread Bar

The chocolate drizzle on top really brings it all together, but we do warn you that the Butterbeer fondant piece on top is really just for show, as it’s fondant. Yes, you can eat it, but it’s not the best tasting! It was soft to bite into and a little flaky, but not overly so, making it a great walking-around treat.

We’re big fans!

If you’re a big fan of the Caramel Butter Bar at Karamell-Küche in EPCOT, you’ll likely like this a lot, especially because it’s less greasy! We think both of the treats are both solid, so we wouldn’t put one over the other, unless that grease factor is a big deal for you.
