Mickey Beignets

Recently, we took a visit to Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort to once again sample one of Walt Disney World’s best-known and most beloved hotel snacks to see if it still lives up to its reputation.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

The Scat Cat’s Club – Café is located just outside the Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge (naturally) and upholds the New Orleans-style French Quarter theming that makes up the popular hotel.

Scat Cat’s Club – Café

The cafe’s menu features alternating seasonal cocktails, bottled beverages, coffees, teas, and the main event — and our focus today — MICKEY-SHAPED BEIGNETS!

Yuuuum

On our most recent trip, we went with an order of 3 Mickey-shaped Beignets, which cost $7.99 and came with a choice of one dipping sauce, with both caramel and chocolate available. You can also get a double order of 6 Mickey-shaped Beignets along with two sauces for $12.99. Whichever size order you go with — this time, we went with the 3-piece along with the caramel sauce — you’re getting a delicious, fluffy snack.

These beignets have a thick, almost doughnut-like texture that puts them much closer to real New Orleans beignets than the more “hollow” variant available at the Magic Kingdom. That’s not to say they’re overtly doughy, though, as the beignets are still pillowy and fluffy. So fluffy in fact that they have a tendency to fall apart as soon as you bite or cut into one, so if you want to immortalize their Mickey shape with a photo, do so before digging in.

Delish!

Toppings-wise, these beignets are absolutely CAKED in powdered sugar. It’s loaded on top of them, AND they’re sitting on a bed of it. Suffice to say, there is no shortage of a sugar rush if you so choose to indulge. That said, you can knock it off to try and avoid too much sugar intake if you so choose (though let’s be honest, if you’re ordering beignets covered in powdered sugar, you’re likely going all-in). The sauce adds a nice flavor bump, and the way it’s served on the side makes it easy to distribute it as one sees fit: You can drown the beignet in it, you can lightly drizzle it, you can dip each bite, etc.

Look at that caramel

So, did the beignets live up to the hype? As usual AB-SO-LU-TELY!

They’re classic for a reason, and if you’re a fan, absolutely worth making a trip to Port Orleans, even if you’re not staying there.
