We were excited about the arrival of beignets at Golden Oak Outpost after Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in 2024. Unfortunately, they often haven’t met our expectations.
Will these new beignets finally hit the mark?
They haven't been as fluffy as we hoped, so we often advise heading to Port Orleans French Quarter instead. However, a new addition just launched, and I must say, they're better than the usual ones!
Right now, you can get the Banana-Caramel Beignets at Golden Oak Outpost for $8.79. They’re light, sweet, and fluffy with powdered sugar, bananas, and caramel sauce.
The banana and caramel topping enhance the experience! The bananas are soft with a mildly caramelized flavor, and the caramel sauce is smooth, like maple syrup. With powdered sugar, these are very sweet, but we think they would complement the breakfast sandwich there for a sweet and savory combo.
The beignets alone are just okay. They're more buttery and doughy than fluffy and soft, not our favorite texture. The caramel sauce adds some softness we really liked, though we think there's room for improvement with the batter. Still, unlike the regular beignets, we’d consider getting these again if we’re in the mood for something sweet.
