It’s a new month, which means NEW treats are hitting Disney Springs left and right.
We’re ready for new treats!
One of our favorite spots for a sweet treat is none other than Amorette’s Patisserie, and we can usually count on them to have some new options each month for us to try. We headed over to try two new items on the menu, but we’ve got to come right out and admit that while one of them was so good it melted in our mouths, the other was a one-and-done.
First up on our list was the new Key Lime-Grapefruit Tart for $8.50, which is Key Lime Custard on a Sugar Tart filled with layers of Grapefruit Jam and Grapefruit Cream. We’ve got one word for this, and that’s TART.
Key Lime-Grapefruit Tart
This isn’t for the meek. It’s incredibly acidic and tart, so much so that it was too much for us, and our reporter usually loves these flavors. While the mousse is very creamy, it doesn’t offer any relief from the tartness overall, and while the crust has a hint of sweetness, it doesn’t do anything to balance the flavors out. We think this could have benefited from a meringue topping, or something whipped, to better balance out those flavors. As it stands, we wouldn’t get it again.
It’s VERY acidic
The other item we grabbed was the Rainbow Bellini Petit Cake for $22, which is Layers of Rainbow-colored Chiffon Cake soaked with Peach Champagne, Simple Syrup, and Peach Champagne Mousse.
Rainbow Bellini Petit Cake
Not only is this one absolutely beautiful, but the cake here is so light and airy, it literally melts in your mouth. The peach flavor here is very subtle, but in the best way, and while we also didn’t get much of a champagne taste from the cake, we didn’t mind too much. We were also very impressed that we didn’t get any of that bitter flavor you often taste in treats that have a lot of food coloring, though make sure you have lots of napkins — this WILL dye you multiple colors, and it melts fast in the Florida sun!
Look at all those colors!
