While much of the focus on Walt Disney World is on massive construction projects and E-Ticket level ride refurbishments, that’s not to say there aren’t a litany of smaller projects also happening at the resort.
Big Top Souvenirs
Case in point, Disney just announced a large refurbishment project for the Big Top Souvenirs location in Fantasyland.
According to Disney, the shop — which closed on February 20th — is expected to “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year.”

The closure of Big Top Souvenirs is running concurrently with the refurbishment of land-mate Pete’s Silly Sideshow, both of which were laid out in construction permits in the fall of 2025.

While the Storybook Circus first opened along with the rest of New Fantasyland first opened in 2012, the circus tent structures that make up both Big Top Souvenirs and Pete’s Silly Sideshow both long predate the land, as they were constructed as part of Mickey’s Birthdayland way back in 1988.

They’ve been part of the land through several name changes over the last four decades, including Mickey’s Starland in 1990, Mickey’s Toyland (briefly) in 1995, and Mickey’s Toontown Fair from 1996 through 2011.
