The U.S. Department of State has issued a worldwide travel warning for Americans, urging citizens to exercise increased caution, especially in the SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) region, also known as the Middle East.

It’s recommended for Americans abroad to follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
The State Department has also warned that periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions. In addition, U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the SWANA/Middle East regions, have been targeted per the report.

Additionally, the State Department warned, “Groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans throughout the world.”
