If you’re traveling to Disney World, you’re probably making a stop at the Orlando International Airport. This is the airport closest to the theme parks, and we honestly would call it a third home in our lives. (Disney World is our second home).

If you’re flying to Disney, you’re probably flying through this airport. That’s why it’s important to know what’s going on at the popular travel destination. If you’re flying in this week, you might need to know about some big flight delays at the airport.

Orlando’s MCO airport has had a tough morning. On Monday, February 16th, 2026, there have been a total of 163 delays.

In addition to those delays, there have already been 17 cancellations. These delays aren’t a huge surprise, as the country is experiencing another partial government shutdown. This shutdown is impacting only a few areas of the government, including homeland security, which impacts TSA. During this time, TSA employees will be required to work without pay, which can create potential issues for travelers.

If you’re traveling during this time, there are a few things you can do to help ease any potential stress! Arriving for your flight at least two hours early can help prevent any stress points, thanks to long security lines or crowds navigating the airport. (We recommend this even during normal travel days).

If you’re traveling through MCO, you can also check security wait times online ahead of your arrival so you know what to expect. This can be a great way to ease some anxieties before your arrival or help you mentally prepare before hopping in a very long line.

This is also a great time to be extra careful about packing. TSA has a list of prohibited items when it comes to carry-ons, such as full-sized shampoos, liquids over 3.4 ounces, aerosols, or pocket knives. Triple-checking that you are following all of the rules can help prevent an extra screening step and move you along more quickly through security. You can find the full list of prohibited items here.
