Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is right around the corner. And while we are so excited for exclusive entertainment, spooky treats, and all the Halloween vibes, there is one downside to the Halloween Party every year.

That’s right, we are talking about the weather. In Florida, this time of year can mean lots of rain, thunderstorms, and, overall, unpredictable weather. And unfortunately, there are several Halloween Party nights every year that are affected by inclement weather. So what happens when it rains while you’re at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary? We’re here to fill you in on everything you need to know!
While bad weather is common at Disney World, especially in the summer months, it is different at the Halloween Party, since the event is only five hours long and most of the exclusive entertainment takes place outdoors. Disney just released their updated Weather Updates and Policies for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. They have shared that “Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will continue in the event of most inclement weather.”

They also suggest that if rain or storms are affecting your night, then you should try experiencing something indoors, such as shopping, an indoor attraction, eating a meal, or doing one of the Trick-or-Treat Trails, which will remain open in inclement weather.

They have also shared that, “Entertainment offerings, showtimes, attractions and experiences are subject to change without notice. Inclement weather conditions may affect outdoor entertainment.”

So what happens when the Boo To You Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular are all cancelled or delayed? Well, in years past Disney has made it up to you. Last year, while visiting the Halloween Party, almost everything was canceled one of the nights we went, and we were given a rain check, which showed up as a message on the My Disney Experience app.

The rain check converts your event ticket to a 1-day park hopper ticket valid for up to one year. Of course, this is not the same as missing out on some of the Halloween Party fun, but it’s an amazing way to get some extra time to enjoy the parks. While Disney’s newest Weather Update might suggest they will be giving out fewer rain check tickets, they have not confirmed the rain check ticket policy this year, and receiving this ticket is never guaranteed even if you do experience bad weather at your event.

Since bad weather is common and the event is rarely fully canceled, and refunds or rain checks are extremely uncommon, we suggest always trying to make the best out of your evening even if rain or storms hit. We suggest being prepared for bad weather with ponchos, shoe covers, rain jackets, and anything else that will help protect you and your cute costume from the rain. Also, if there is rain in the forecast, we suggest doing all of your outside priorities early and saving any indoor activities like snacks, rides, or certain character experiences for when the rain hits.

And if the weather really disrupts your evening, you can always go speak with a Guest Services Cast Member to see what can be done. However, while these Cast Members will always do their best to ensure you have an amazing time, it is also not guaranteed that they will be able to provide you with a rain check ticket or other compensation. Overall, rain at the Halloween Party can be a bummer, but there is still so much fun and spooky excitement to be had, even in the rain.
