Disney's announcement about the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster getting a Muppet makeover has left us scratching our heads a bit. With a rich history of covering Disney parks, I've seen my share of updates and changes, but this one feels particularly puzzling.
The change was initially revealed in 2024, following the Muppets’ relocation from their Muppet*Vision 3D spot due to Monsters, Inc. construction. The new version will feature the beloved Muppets, including music from the Electric Mayhem, a fresh Muppet-themed paint job, and an updated preshow complete with Audio Animatronics.
Disney recently shared more about the preshow, which will include Scooter as an Audio-Animatronics figure, alongside penguin audio engineers. Scooter is trying to wrangle the Electric Mayhem to make it to their concert on time. There's a promise of more Muppet Animatronics debuting, sparking excitement among fans.
However, the timeline is curious. The classic coaster featuring Aerosmith is set to operate until late 2025, and the Muppet version is scheduled for summer 2026. With only about 5-6 months for renovations, it seems like extensive changes might be limited. We’re eager to see how much will truly be transformed when the ride reopens.
