According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland has filed for confidential demolition permits for the Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue attraction in Disney California Adventure.

These permits were filed with the city of Anaheim for the attraction, along with the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand nearby.
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue will remain open till 2027, even after Disney originally listed the closing date in 2026. They pushed the date back and said it would have no impact on the construction timeline for the new Avatar-themed land coming to the space.

Disney California Adventure is getting this new Avatar land, the West Coast’s first Avatar-themed area, and will mostly be based on The Way of Water and Fire and Ash. Disney’s concept art shows a lot of water elements, including a water ride where guests are in boats.

Disney has been loose with the details, not specifically mentioning timelines or specific elements, and while rumors have been populating that they might instead switch from Avatar to a Zootopia-themed land, especially after the success of Zootopia 2 at the box office, no official announcements have been made.

There is also a Coco ride coming to Disney California Adventure! The ride will be filled with music from the movie as you join Miguel on a trip to the land of the dead. It’s the first-ever Coco ride in a Disney park. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said, “We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way through the latest audio-animatronics technology. These figures will appear in ways you’ll have to see to believe.” We also have not heard any further details, but we’re very excited for the ride.
