Disney World is shaking things up by closing some restaurants and tearing down several buildings! The resort is undergoing major transformations in preparation for exciting new expansions, but it's quite surprising to see so many changes happening simultaneously. One more building at Disney World has literally disappeared!
Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island has officially been demolished. The quick-service restaurant, which dished out favorites like fried chicken and BBQ sandwiches, had closed back in July 2025 after several inactive years but will be sorely missed. Along with Aunt Polly's, a windmill and mill, including the water wheel, also faced the wrecking ball. The demolition is part of the preparation for the eagerly anticipated Piston Peak, a Cars-inspired land.
This news wasn't unexpected since Disney announced Piston Peak back in 2024 and permits for demolition were filed earlier this year. Although it’s tough to part with beloved old spots, thrilling new experiences are on the horizon like a Rally Race-themed attraction and a family-friendly ride, though details on the latter are scarce. While it's bittersweet to let go of cherished memories like buttered biscuits and dark caves, the prospect of new adventures is exciting. What's your take on all these changes?
