There’s been a lot of buzz around Mattel lately, and how they’re looking to bring their products to their fans in new ways! Now we have word of a new park they are planning to build near Disney World: a new WATER park.
According to People, Mattel’s very first indoor water park has found a home in Orlando. They said, “documents show that the Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks will be located on an 11-acre lot in Orlando, 10 minutes away from Disney World. The park will be at Vineland Road, not far from Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores.”

The space will be a “90,000-square-foot indoor water park with a retractable roof, an outdoor water park and event lawn, a ‘slide zone’ spanning roughly 42,000 square feet, and over 11,000 square feet of retail space.” Talk about an experience — which will feature wave pools, water slides, and lazy rivers throughout the water park.

Mattel said back in November of 2025 that they plan on building “Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks” in five different locations, which included Florida. It makes sense to put it in the spot that draws people in already, with Disney World and Universal Studios. The park is expected to incorporate iconic Mattel brands such as Barbie and Hot Wheels.

The aquatic design firm Martin Aquatic will lead the “concept-to-engineering design” of the water park experience. This is the same firm that has done the likes of Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay, Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay, and The Ritz-Carlton Naples.

Josh Martin, president and creative director, said he anticipates the park will feature an “exclusive ride that will be a water slide that you can only experience at Mattel.” He also made a point that Mattel is focused more on “classic, iconic elements” and not as focused on characters. “Mattel has an incredible history of board games and Mattel toys and games, and so being able to look at things like Uno, and think outside the box — what if I were to design a water slide that was around Uno? What elements would I include that feel like you’re playing the game?”

We’re excited to see how this project turns out. There are going to be lots of good options in Orlando to cool off. The tough thing will be choosing where to go — but that’s a good problem to have. For more theme park news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog.
