Mario and Luigi fans, get ready! Universal and Illumination just unveiled exciting details about the Super Mario Bros. movie sequel. With its official title and release date out, we can't help but shout “YAHOO!”
The sequel, named The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is set to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026, as per Variety. It draws inspiration from the iconic 2007 Wii game, "Super Mario Galaxy."
Nintendo announced the movie as part of the celebration of the original "Super Mario Bros." 40th anniversary. The teaser from Nintendo Direct showed Mario snoozing under a tree with Peach’s castle in view, followed by a cosmic scene unveiling the sequel's title.
Returning to voice their characters are the stellar cast: Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek).
The original Super Mario Bros. movie broke records, becoming the highest-grossing video game adaptation with a $1.36 billion revenue and landing as the fifth-highest-grossing animated film ever.
